Morning guys

☀️🙋‍♀️ Currently determined to make this week more productive than the last, I will let you know how that goes but so far it’s kind of working. Well at the very least my attitude is better!

I used the vitamin C serum and overnight mask from @bootsuk last night. My first impressions are they are not as potent as something more expensive (which is kinda obvious but just wanted to clarify). I can’t really say that I’ve noticed a huge difference in my skin this morning, like I would with @drunkelephant but maybe with consistent use things will change. Also, if you find vitamin C too strong anyway maybe the Boots range will be a good place to start?

I thought I’d also just to a quick comparative of the ingredients in the Boots UK vitamin C serum and C-Firma:

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Boots vitamin C serum
Water/Aqua/Eau, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Ascorbic Acid, Laureth-23, Glycerin, Lactobacillus/Pumpkin Ferment Extract, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice Extract, Phyllanthus Emblica Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Lactobacillus/Punica Granatum Fruit Ferment Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Phytosterols, Glutamylamidoethyl Imidazole, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Ferulic Acid, Acetyl Glucosamine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tetrahydrobisdemethoxydiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrodemethoxydiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane, Glycine, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Sucrose, Maltodextrin, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Isohexadecane, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbitan Isostearate, Propanediol, Pentylene Glycol, XanthaN Gum, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide, Chlorphenesin, Polysorbate 60, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, EthylhexylglycerinAqua (Water), Glycerin, Peg-12 Dimethicone, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Ppg-26-Buteth- 26, Sodium Citrate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Chlorphenesin, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Bisabolol, Disodium Edta, Maltodextrin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate

As you can see the ingredient lists are a world apart. I have highlighted some of the first few ingredients which are similar. There is one crucial difference. The Drunk Elephant serum uses ascorbic acid and the Boots serum uses ethly ascorbic acid. All this means is the boots form of vitamin C has an alcohol group attached to it. This makes it more stable than vitamin C however, from my own personal use I think this also makes it less effective.

Different kinds of vitamin C is an interesting blog topic in itself, so let me know if you’d like to see that below!
